Yeah. Cool. If you live somewhere where you can grow citrus and tomatoes are perennials.

But hey, I'm picking up my baby chicks today (an assortment of layers) and cranking out a couple of batches of homemade soap this weekend. I'm halfway there, right?

They clay pot oven/fridge thing looks like a big turd.

We would be pretty hungry 7-9 months of the year here in the mountains.

I want one of those bike/blender things for the computer and television.

I don't really want to eat my front porch for a snack.

How in Pandora's Box did they get zoning permits for livestock in a Pasadena neighborhood? They must have been grandfathered in from the 60s.

Also, I like the idea of growing everything I can. Not of pooping in my sink next to an "occupied" sign. But I am from ORANGE County, not LOS ANGELES County.

Did she say that the water from the shower is used to water their "edible landscaping?" Does that mean the used shower water goes onto their vegetables?

I am horrified. Grow your own garden, sure. Conserve water, of course. But combining the two? That's where I draw the line.

Also, what is the point of drinking a milkshake if you had to EXERCISE to get it?!

Can I have them do it for me and I can have the fresh veggies? ;-)

I think it's cool - but it looks like a lot of work. Maybe one day when I grow up.

I absolutely love it, to be honest. I wish I were even kind of close to being that self-sufficient.

That being said, I hate pets. So the chickens and goats and ducks thing wouldn't work for me. Plus I hate goat milk. I'd have to have a whole herd of cows to support my addictions to all things dairy.

We could all learn a thing or two from this. I couldn't learn all...

And I felt good just going to grow a few herbs in boxes....hmmmm.

I don't think it's humanly possible to pedal fast enough to power my VitaMix, but I wouldn't mind heading more in this direction. There's a lot they're doing I find appealing.

Queen Scarlet stole my comment. I would totally love to live like that- without the work.

Gardening is hard work, yo, which is why we live in a condo.

I grew up with a large garden, compost, and an orchard. The fruits of our labors were delicious, but the labors? Condo.

wv: pecans. You should grow some.

sue-do: I actually took this very clip from grittypretty's blog. I just think . . . it's incredible. Not necessarily in an either good nor bad way. Just . . . wow.
