Thank-you Notes

THANK YOU
for supporting Shot@Life's 1st Birthday with us, whether in Utah or elsewhere. Your support and involvement is so appreciated. An extra-special THANK YOU to the Sweet Tooth Fairy for helping us celebrate! Remember, $20 is all it costs to immunize a child for life. Feel free to donate on our Utah Shot@Life page.

THANK YOU
for supporting me during my first 1/2 marathon. It went well. It was a perfect day for a race, and if I could have, I would have stopped to take pictures along the route. Racers caught buses at Provo's City Center (near the tabernacle) and were taken to the starting line: up University Avenue, up Provo Canyon, past Vivian Park, to the South Fork area. I used the 'bathroom' twice and nearly missed the starting time (but didn't).

I lined up at the back, with the 11:30/mile pacers. I was wearing extra clothes and a winter hat because it was CHILLY at that hour, but at the first water station I dropped all my extra clothes and just enjoyed the cool canyon breeze. I WISH you could have seen the view! Running down the canyon, the Provo River was golden from the reflection of the rising sun on the Rocky Mountains. Bridal Veil Falls was breathtaking. My run was steady, not fast, and I stopped once to use the 'bathroom.' When I was on University Avenue, at about 400 North, and I thought I was using every bit of energy that I had left in me, I saw the finish line and two unexpected things happened: unconsciously I sped up, and I started to cry. I actually had to fight off the crying because it involved my throat getting tighter, but I wasn't expecting to feel so emotional about it all.

My time ended up being under 11 minutes/mile for the entire race (not reflected in my chip time, which I couldn't pause during my mid-race stand-in-line-and-bathroom break). I finished in under 2 1/2 hours.

THANK YOU
for supporting Utah's first Listen To Your Mother show last Thursday. I hope you were able to attend - the energy in the room was not to be missed. Just in case, though, official video of the performances will be available, and when they are I'll share with you here.
