Kitchen Countertop Makeover by Wilsonart

So, this is pretty cool.

In August, I sat down to go through my VIP swag bag from SocialLuxe Lounge. I always walk away impressed by that party, and by the sponsors which help make it happen. I came across a small, pretty package that seemed to be (and was) a bag of wine glass markers.

I noticed the attached card and read it.

They invite me to pamper my kitchen? What? So I flipped that card over and read the details.

And I read that card again.

One more time, just to be sure.

It reads (in part):

Wilsonart offers you a one-hour kitchen makeover consultation with HGTV's Design on a Dime host, Summer Baltzer. Use this consultation for ideas to make over your own kitchen or use it as prize for one of your readers. This card also entitles you - or your reader - to complimentary materials, including a Wilsonart HD countertop surface, a Wilsonart Decorative Edge and Integrated Sink of your choice. you would be responsible for fabrication and installation of the countertop, which generally runs under $1,000. Wilsonart can help you to find a local installer. Offer for consultation and makeover must be redeemed by June 30, 2013.

Yes, that's right. A KITCHEN MAKEOVER. Are you kidding me with this?! My imagination went wild. We're a family of seven people over here with a very tiny kitchen. In my mind I did my best to envision my plans: push the Western wall of our kitchen further out into our yard, expanding our kitchen and also our dining area; while we're at it, we'll build a deck to the North of our new expanded kitchen. We'll include a sliding service window so as to easily serve onto the new deck. More importantly, more than one person can fit in the new cooking area, making dinner prep more of a family activity instead of the get-out-of-the-kitchen activity that it currently is. More, and higher-quality, counter space would mean more activities together in the kitchen  - it could really be a gathering place for my entire family at once, not just a few at the counter at a time. I got excited considering the possibilities of my kitchen's new design and what it would mean for my family.

And then I was like, "Who am I kidding?" See, as much as I'd like to do this, the reality is that we're saving up for a car (this family of seven? ONE CAR. Don't get me started.). In short: as wonderful as this is, it's simply not the right season for me to use it. And so what should I do with this awesome gift? This opportunity?

I know!

I'll give it away to someone.

Want it?

First, here are the details of the prize:

The prize is a coupon for FREE countertop materials (laminate surface, decorative edges and integrated sink) and a one-hour design consultation with HGTV's Design on a Dime host, Summer Baltzer. Offer for consultation and makeover must be redeemed by June 30, 2013. Further details to be sent to the winner, but you get the idea.

Second, here are the details of how to win:

To enter to win this prize, write a post on your blog about why you should win this prize; include at least one mention of, with a link back to, this blog. Then make a comment on this post with a link back to your post so that I can see it (Make a video? Maybe? I'm not the boss of you).

The contest begins today, Monday, September 17, 2012, and ends on Friday, September 28, 2012, 11:59 P.M. (Mountain Time). This contest is open to residents of the continental United States of America (sorry, Wasilla reader(s)!). Winner will be chosen and contacted via email; winner must reply to the email within 72 hours or a new winner will be chosen (and contacted in the same manner and with the same condition). Winner will then be put in contact with Wilsonart and be required to sign a release, etc., to begin the process of the consultation and receiving materials for the remodel.

Now isn't that cool?

Thanks to SocialLuxe Lounge and to Wilsonart HD for this amazing gift!

Thanks to YOU for being here, I'm excited to read your posts about how much you'd like (need?) this kitchen makeover. Holiday gift to yourself? Long overdue remodel? Whatever the case, good luck!

Don't forget to like my facebook page (which won't help you win this contest, but I sure appreciate it), and follow me on twitter!

I would definitely LOVE to take you up on that, but we rent. But this poor kitchen could definitely use the makeover. We don't even have a disposal or dishwasher...
