NIE AUCTION ITEM #109 - Vintage Accessory Ensemble

This vintage black felt cloche hat, beaded box purse and set of sterling silver rose earrings are perfect for the romantic at heart.

The soft felt hat features a kid leather band and bow. Its label reads: "Marshall Field & Company, Young Chicago." It is stamped with the United Hatters Caps & Millinery Workers union label, which indicates the hat dates from between 1934 and 1954. It is labeled size 22 and measures approximately 21 inches inside around the band. The model in the picture has a 21 1/2 inch head circumference and the hat fit her well.

The purse is made of woven raffia and beautiful plastic faceted beads. It has a darling gold twist clasp. It is labeled Made in Japan. It measures 7 inches wide, 5 1/2 inches tall (excluding handle) and 4 inches deep. Likely dates from the 1960s.

The silver rose earrings are beautifully detailed. They are screw-back style, but can be worn comfortably by women with pierced ears. They are marked Sterling and BB. The BB stands for Binder Bros., a New York company which began making costume jewelry in the 1920s. The earrings likely date from the 1940s.
