free concert

Two years ago, my beloved DMB cancelled the remainder of their tour (including the SLC show) when one of their own unexpectedly passed away.

One year ago, they cancelled because WhatsHisName had a sore throat or something.

This year, they gave a free concert.

Yeah! Like what they are, right? Grassroots and flannel, right?

According to that day's call-and-find-out-this-show's-rules hotline, professional cameras were not allowed, but point-n-shoot were allowed. And then we arrived at the gate, opened our purses (and our souls) and were told:

"Mr. Matthews has requested that no cameras be allowed in the venue."

Oh, Dave.

Don't turn into That Guy.

We got back at him by taking some pictures.

Also, by sitting on blankets and just, you know, listening to music, rather than dance like a bunch of barefooted hippies. (Well, I did that. But only for, like, two songs.)

me with Marie of Make And Takes fame. She is Double Awesome and a half.

Me with my husband. On this day we had been married 13 years and two days.
What's the last concert you went to?
Were cameras allowed?

U2, then right before that, Coldplay. I'm pretty sure we were told no cameras, so we didn't have ours at either concert, but everyone else did, so I was jealous.

Love DMB... bet it was a great show.

Love the picture of you & husband. My last concert was Michael Buble and cameras were all over the place.

My last concert was Kings of Leon at Darien Lake. Before that, House of Pain in Buffalo. Unfortunately, I miss Public Enemy. They were in Buffalo a few weeks ago.

This guy took me to DMB in San Diego and then proceeded to try and dirty makeout with me the whole time. Sorry, I'm not contact high enough for that ahthankyou.

Last concert? Oh it was so long ago I don't even remember... Probably Coldplay in San Diego as well and for the record it was one of the best shows I've ever seen.

I went to see Harry Connick Jr. He was really obscene and I'm pretty sure he was drunk. I was ticked that I supported that with my money.

How did I not know about this free concert? Or your love for DMB? We had tickets to the one two years ago.

I used to be a major Dave groupie, back in my single days. My friend and I went to see him in San Diego, Colorado, Vegas, and Giant Stadium. It was awesome.

We had front row tickets one year. I'm pretty sure he wanted me to have his babies.

Elvis Costello and he's great in concert. Loved it. And nobody said anything about cameras except no flash photography.

You look so amazing! Beautifully happy.

Last concert I went to? Billy Joel and Elton John. There were cameras all over the place. I was disappointed in EJ, but Billy was out of this world!

I didn't get that. Everyone's phone has a camera anyway. Did you think of that, Mr. Matthews?

Well, this isn't exactly a concert, but Rob and I went to the Shakespearean Festival a few weeks ago and saw a musical production of Great Expectations. I bring this up because after I snapped a couple shots of the cool set following the show, a young usher boy yelled at me from halfway across the room and pretty much threatened to take me down. I narrowly escaped with my life and camera intact, but now I'm an outlaw by Cedar City standards. You're kidding, right? What do I look like, some kind of theater spy?

P.S. You're gorgeous.

Congrats on 13 years.

It drives me nuts that they won't allow pictures. It's free advertising for them. I can understand saying no flash photography but come on, no cameras is just rude. Plus people like having photos of their memories.
