7 1/4 x 10 inches
Mixed Media: Oil, Archival paper, wood, hardware
From the artist: "I was inspired to create this because Jared (my husband) and I used to be nursery leaders for our church in the Phoenix Central ward. Our nursery included the deaf branch children, so we used sign language quite a bit. One week we passed out little paper cut-outs of the sign for "I love you." When we got home, I taped it to the back of our front door and there it stayed. When we moved into our current home, I taped it to the back of its front door. I liked the little reminder it gave everyone as they left, and my girls seemed to like it, too. One day, I noticed it was looking pretty sad, the little fingers were drooping and one of them was actually missing. I decided to make a more permanent version, so came up with this. Now I have it hanging by our front door, a more permanent version of the original idea. I especially love it now that I have been introduced to Nie Nie's beautiful and classic looking silhouettes."
