Kay Ess El

KSL is now on 102.7 FM, so I can listen to it in my car without hearing the screetches when we're near power lines or overpasses. I listened to it today on my way to Orem, taking Em to preschool, and when I was getting her out of the car, she sang along, "KSL...". This made me think that she listens to it more than I do. So after I dropped her off at her class, I really listened to it, and here's what, among other things, I heard:

~an incorrect announcement of the time - by thirty minutes.

~one of those "spot the tot" ads, which I HATE: "We have a rule about everyone being on the lawn when a car backs out of the driveway, but I ran over my two-year-old." OR: "A garbage truck backed up over a small child on his bicycle, and when we arrived at the scene to his small, lifeless body, we tried to hide it from all the kids walking home from school."

~an ad for a financial institution which consists of a conversation between a son and his father. The notion is that the son is actually more intelligent than the father, even though the dad is the one giving the advice. At one point, the son said, "I concur." -pause- "Son, everyone can curr." I thought that was funny.

~the ET Hollywood Minute with Mary Hart.

~A bunch of statistics about hurricanes.

Then a UTA bus drove past me with a photo of Grant & Amanda which allows us to see right up Amanda's nose. Ew.

I'm wondering if I should switch to Doug Fabrizio...

here's the thing with doug Fabrizio: He's a tool. He's a condescending commie pinko, and i think he likes boys. i can't be sure, though, because when I met him he was so condescending to me that I almost punched him in his neck. Stay with KSL, even if you risk making your kids less intelligent.

Verification:

zhxrzxmb: (n.) Martian word meaning, ironically, Jenny Eckton.

I...I...I think that, that, that, uhm, you should uh, totally switch to Doug Fabrizio in light of the err, uhm, cultural and religous ties that Radio West continues to explore in our community. Talk of The Nation, right after Radio West, is always pretty good.

Plus, seriously, KSL? Do you hate yourself that much?

This was so funny to me... I love that the mundane tasks of life can yield such random turns of humor. You crack me up with this post. AND you impress me that you can retain all this randomness in your brain...long enough to type it up. I envy all those that have more than a 5 min long memory. ;-)

Funny Blog. The only problem is that I don't know who any of these people are? I DO remember KSL from when I was a young 'un but who are Grant and Amanda? I only ask because I have heard the same sentiments of hatred of Grant and Amanda on other Utah based blogs...

I did turn on the tv last time I was visiting my mom and dad and it was called Good Day Utah. I was gobsmacked. I couldn't believe that a show like that 1) made it on TV and 2) had any viewers? BORING. The accent alone was enough to make me turn.

Today Lauren asked me to go to Macy's (the department store, not the grocery store). When I asked her why, she recited the entire spiel from the Barbie.com webite about how you can buy the Barbie brand clothes and then mix 'n match. When I said no, she kept telling me "but they said to go today mom!! Today!" They hear everything!!

wow, must benice to have more options of radio stations to listen to. just think, it could be worse. you could chosse between se-93 or 106.9 kiss fm. only when you drive to erie or buffalo so you get the good stations that don't generally overplay. for instance, i think i heard "behind these hazel eyes" 8 times in one day just driving in my car. and that didn't count the 8 hours i worked during the day and the 5 i worked later that night. nothing against kelly clarkson. juast an example. i miss x96.

Doug Febrizio is a pantywaste. Waldo called in one time and suggested that he was biasing the call-in segment he was doing, because he only allowed whack-job fundamentalists and mormon-haters to talk. The other host said "that is a very valid point. What do you think, Doug?" Doug hung up on Waldo and said Waldo was wrong.
I like Doug Wright when he does the movie reviews because he calls them all "flicks" like he isn't actually as old as Dick Clark.
The best commercial I ever heard on KSL--"To open the door, just push on the butt-en. Push it again, and that door be shutt-en."

w - I think someone has a man-crush...twice.

carina - excellent impression. A+ on accuracy.

queen - I only remembered because I was paying attention on purpose, which made me wonder how often I am hearing all that crap subconsciously, when it's just background noise.

nienie - amanda and her stephen's hot cocoa...ug.

bek & cjane - yes, WHOSE IDEA WAS IT TO HAVE GOOD DAY UTAH??????!! And, Bek, as much as I shop there for food now, I miss the days when Macy's was a department store.

beans - what the--? just kidding. x96 misses you, too. You were a fine, loyal friend of the program, there in the wee hours, baking away at einstein's.

ganz - that's a great story. I wish I would have heard it. I CAN'T STAND listening to Doug Wright. In fact, nowadays, he's doing these monster-truck type ads. They're pathetic. He's not fooling anyone.

Please tell me they didn't rhyme button w/ "shutting". That is a good one. My husbands favorite part of any trip to Utah is listing to the recording at the airport at the curb

"there is no PARK-eeeeeeen, or WAIT-eeeeeeeeen at the corner"

Love the accent

Yuck. Hate kay ess ell. The only time I ever tune in is if I'm going up to the big city during rush hour and want to hear traffic and weather together on the nines, or if I'm really interested in hearing the BYU football game. And if that garden guy is on, sometimes I listen. These things happen about once every 2 years. Talk radio makes me gag. And Amanda is so gooey. The only reason she didn't totally wreck Steven's Gourmet hot cocoa for me is that 1) it's chocolate and 2) it's soooo good.

I trust KSL when there is an item of "Mormon" interest. When we were looking for Lori I listened to KSL all day, because they would report even the slightest things. If President Packer got a sinus infection, KSL would keep me posted. If LagoonaBeach had scabies, KSL would let me know. If terrorists bombed Chicago, KSL would tell me about it in 30-second intervals every hour, on the hour, unless someone was picketing on temple square without a permit, in which case the terrorists would be pre-empted.

Good Day Utah is what happens when people who were raised in Utah County and married other people who were raised in Utah County and think that other people really really like Utah County Magazine get some sort of influence.

Button rhymed with shuttin. And the jingle was sung by a white relief socieity chorister.

When I come to Utah I am loading up on the Stephen's hot cocoa. I am scraping the bottom of the cannister...

I'm going to have to disagree with you about the Good Day Utah Girls.

They're all from Sandy, not the UV.

You have to stop listening to KSL. If KUER isn't an option, may I recommend either KRCL at 90.9 or 91.7 KOHS.

Carina said...

Sorry, one of the girls might be from Bounty-ful.

La Yen said...

Bountiful is merely where the UV girls go if they marry a guy with more money than their dad.

Carina said...

Oh yeah? I hate Disney everything.

Ladies, ladies, break it up.
